Cooper University Hospital New Combined Heat & Power Plant

Camden, New Jersey

For the Cooper University Hospital Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Plant, HSC partnered with PWI Engineers on this Design-Build project. The scope includes the installation of a 4.5MW gas turbine electrical power generation system, along with a secondary steam-powered chiller and cooling tower. When completed, this system will provide increased resiliency and efficiency for the Level 1 Trauma Hospital and its associated campus. Along with the power and utility generation, the project also will connect the major campus buildings with the hospital’s infrastructure to enable the entire campus to operate at normal or near normal levels of service during the event of an emergency. The increased efficiency of the new systems will generate considerable operational cost savings for the hospital, and ensure the hospital infrastructure matches the outstanding service levels that Cooper delivers to the community.
