Confidential Client – Helipad

New Brunswick, New Jersey

The existing asphalt helipad was demolished and removed from site. A new concrete retaining wall and helipad were constructed. Three new lead-in light steel structures were erected to assist incoming helicopters to the helipad. Obstruction lights were also installed to signal to the pilot about areas of caution. Weather-proof lights surrounding the pad were recessed into the concrete to aid with evening landings. The concrete was cleaned, striped, and sealed to preserve the markings and protect the concrete. As part of the design, fiber-reinforced bars and mesh were used in place of typical metal rebar. This alternate material prevents metallic objects from interfering with a helicopter’s navigational instruments.
