Riddle Hospital Electrical Infrastructure

Media, Pennsylvania

The Riddle Hospital electrical infrastructure upgrade required replacing the existing 4160V service with new 13.2 kV service in a fully functioning hospital. HSC was involved during the schematic phase, developed a schematic estimate, and then refined a design development estimate. This early involvement allowed HSC to manage risks on the project such as reducing the impact to the existing facility in respect to conduit routing strategies and the re-use of existing conduits, managing temporary protection requirements, considering the impact on the Building Automation System from the new emergency power systems, and minimizing the shutdown requirements necessary to implement this project. Project features included two new generators, boiler-house switchgear, main hospital switchgear, and west wing switchgear.
