History

HSC Builders and Construction Managers was founded in 1988 as Health Sciences Construction Group specializing in construction management services to healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and higher education clients. The company was founded by Jay Heim, a former pharmaceutical corporate engineer. Jay instilled his personal sense of pride, along with his understanding of the special demands of these industries, into every project the company has undertaken. Jay now serves as the Chairman of the Board.

In 2000, Mark Heim took the helm as the President to steer the company in the same direction outlined during the company’s inception. That path still includes specializing in those niche industries along with retaining the highest skilled professionals who take pride in their work. Every team member is client-centric and brings significant value to them; that’s the only standard we live by.

Mark Heim stepped into the CEO role in 2011 as James Viner assumed the role of President. Jim continues the historic approach of collaboratively working with clients to fully understand their vision and developing strategies to ensure successful outcomes. This collaboration continues to be based on nurtured trust and effective communication which has afforded HSC to build long-lasting, committed relationships.

These basic values have been noticed by our peers; Mark Heim was awarded the CFMA Executive of the Year and the company has received fourteen Subcontractor Association of Delaware Valley awards to date. Following a clear vision along the way has enabled HSC to reach a $150MM-plus company with nearly 100 employees who build projects throughout the Mid Atlantic region.
